We use the term “contributions” instead of “prices” or “payment” here, because this better reflects how we work with money in this project. La Figuera is not a business endeavor in itself, but is rather part of a larger web around us, of living and working in community. To make this initiative possible, there was a significant up front investment; there are ongoing costs to run the house, as well as many improvements we would like to invest in going forward if possible.

The running costs and potential investments can be made possible by a combination of financial and non-financial contributions, therefore we invite residents and guests to think about how they might contribute in either or both these dimensions when they come to stay.

Inspired by the Happy Money Story practiced in Greaterthan, we have a flexible and relational approach to determining the contributions for your stay. Concretely, it means we have an open conversation about money and needs before or at the beginning of your stay, to agree on a contribution together that we all feel happy with.

Financial contributions

With this open approach to determining contributions, we have had people staying here contributing financially anywhere between 5 and 50 € per person per night. However, to give a starting point for the money conversation, after two years we have decided to propose a baseline contribution, which depending on in-kind contributions and needs could go below or well above that amount.

Proposed baseline: 15 € per person / per day, not including meals.

In-kind contributions
