How it all started….

In February 2020, Francesca was in New Zealand on a Money, Source and Vision retreat with Peter Koenig and his partner Barbara Kunz. To her surprise, she left that retreat with a concrete project idea on a piece of paper, for a co-living project near Barcelona. Upon arrival back in Spain, she shared the idea with Manel, who was immediately all in! And when a week later the world locked down because of Covid19, and Francesca and Manel found themselves confined to their 50m² apartment in the city for months….you can imagine that the motivation for this project took on a new dimension! So that summer, they began looking for places in the Maresme region, which Manel knew well since he grew up there. By September they had found the perfect place in Caldes D’Estrac, and in February 2021 finally everything was ready for the house to be signed over and this new chapter as La Figuera to start.

As we looked for the right place for this project and develop La Figuera together, there are key elements that we strive to find a healthy balance between:

The Place

Shared and private spaces

• Living & dining room, large kitchen, co-working space, shared guest rooms
• A garden, compost and vegetable patch
• 3 terraces
• Shared infrastructure: a car, bikes, tools etc.

Private

• Plenty of private spaces, which give everyone living there the intimacy they need.
• Two small apartments, with their private kitchen, bathrooms and living room.
• additional terraces and other places where one can find refuge :)
